The dentist – periodontist Dr. Dimitra Karapetsa graduated from the School of Dentistry of the University of Perugia in Italy in 2008.
She then worked as a general dentist in a dental clinic in Athens and at the same time, in the academic year 2009, she attended the postgraduate program of the University of Vienna and received a Master in Intraoral Laser Applications.
In 2010 she started her specialty in Clinical Periodontics at the University of Paris Diderot – Paris 7 and in 2012 she completed the program with a Master’s degree. During the postgraduate program she began participating in clinical trials to study the relationship between periodontitis and systemic diseases such as cardiovascular disease or diabetes.
In 2013 she started working as a research fellow at the University Hospital of Pisa in Italy in the 1st European Clinic of Periodontal Medicine treating patients with cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, obesity, autoimmune diseases, and periodontitis.
At the same time in 2013 she started to prepare her doctoral dissertation entitled “Rheumatoid Arthritis and control of periodontal infection: epidemiological evaluation and randomized clinical trial” and in 2017 she was awarded a doctorate by the University of Pisa, Italy.
She continued to work at the University Hospital of Pisa until the end of 2017. In parallel with the hospital-university activity, she worked from 2013 to 2018 in private dental clinics in Northern Italy, dealing exclusively with periodontics.
In 2019 she returned to Athens and started working as a periodontist in private clinics while from 2020 she works in her private dental clinic in Peristeri.

She has participated in numerous conferences, and she is the author of scientific articles in international peer reviewed scientific journals.
